A Personal Appeal

30/05/2012 00:42 Written by TigerBear
Dear all
It's very unusual for me to use this space for anything personal, however this time I feel it's worth it.
My 12 year old daughter and I will be doing the Race for Life on the 17th June.
Cancer. The word itself invokes fear.  It can affect anyone without predjudice. It doesn't care if we are black, white, Jewish, Muslim or any other race or religion. Everyone has been affected by cancer in one way or another.
Over the last few years my own life has been touched by cancer in a number of ways.  Close family members who thank god, now have the all clear. Another close family member who is only just starting the fight. A good friend and fellow chatter on here, who is now classified as "terminal" who has vowed to fight it, and friends parents who have lost their lives to this terrible disease.
None of us know what the future will bring, so both my daughter and I are doing this for them, us and you...
Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring us now you can help more people survive cancer.  Our event is in Watford on the 17th June, you are welcome to come along and cheer us over the finish line!
Thank you for taking the time to read this appeal and if you can, please dig deep and sponsor us online - it's quick, easy and totally secure.
